Dia De Los Muertos

It's a pregnant Day of the Dead kitty. Let me explain. As I was sculpting this, I thought, How cute would this look with a swollen pregnant belly? No, that's not right. She's a Day of the Dead cat! That's wrong, wrong, wrong. Then I thought, Wait. Day of the Dead is a holiday in which people reflect on the lives of their loved ones and relatives. That's a reflection on life. Life and death are inseparable! You have to be alive to die, and everything alive eventually dies. This is perfect!

So there you have it.

This OOAK figurine was sculpted from polymer clay, and then painted with acrylics. I did her soft, natural stripes using pastels. All of her flowers were handmade by me, as well as her eyes.
