Artist's Comments

This is a repainted, tacked Barbie horse I sold on eBay in October 2007. She currently resides in a private collection in Australia.

I spent hours and hours painting on all the little individual hairs on this horse, and used acrylics, pastels, and colored pencils to do so.

Wow! Very impressive! It looks like it was fun to do although time-consuming. Nice work!

Thanks! You're dead on about time consuming and fun! But doing dolly/model horse stuff is a good venue to make a little money as an artist. Unlike flat work, it is a very specific niche with a fairly decent market.

that's awesome. I paint blank "painted ponies" and sell them. it's alot of fun :D but I admit, yours looks like it took WAY more time than mine ever did. I did a Captain Jack Sparrow horse, took me 12 hours ...how many hours did you put into this one?

Thanks Ice! Gosh, this took over 60 hours. If you go to my Latest page on my website, there is a link to better pics of her. It was spring when I worked on her, and I spent a lot of time outside in the sunshine, enjoying the weather, while painting all those little hairs.

Wow! your welcome! man, I don't have that kind of patience! half way through I'd abandon it... haha. I'm the type that I don't last long on big projects... if I can't finish it in a couple of days, I will talk myself into stopping! lol
For that much work, I hope you got a good chunk of change for it!
